The Glendower Group (Glendower) is a nonprofit (501C3) corporation established in November 2001 as an instrumentality to the Elm City Communities / Housing Authority of New Haven (ECC/HANH), located in Connecticut. With a clear and precise goal – create, renovate, restore and construct affordable housing communities in a safe environment that our residents can feel pride in. The Glendower Group is at the forefront of those leading the private sector market in affordable housing. Glendower provides comprehensive and integrated real estate development services and housing needs to low income, elderly and disabled residents facilitated by the Moving to Work designation given in 2000 by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Together, Glendower and ECC/HANH have undertaken an aggressive redevelopment / modernization program allowing for the transformation of our housing portfolio throughout the City of New Haven. Partnering with the City of New Haven, we have been able to close four major Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) redevelopments. Since 2009, Glendower has served as the sole developer or co-developer on 12 major affordable and market rate development projects. We provide comprehensive and integrated real estate development services as well as relocation assistance, construction management services, funding and research knowledge, among a host of other services.
In 2016, Glendower was pleased to announce Mill River Crossing (formerly known as Farnam Courts) development as part of The Group’s redevelopment portfolio. The former Farnam Courts development is comprised of 8 market rate units and 86 units of affordable Rental Assistance Demonstration program (RAD) family housing, 24 one-bedroom, 51 two-bedroom units, 8 three-bedroom units, and 3 four-bedroom units totaling $42 million. This development will provide construction jobs, contracting and employment opportunities for local, women, minority, Section 3 and resident owned enterprises. When all phases of the Mill River Crossing Redevelopment are complete, 228 affordable RAD family units, 5,900 sq ft of commercial space, a new community center, and a new park will be built.
Glendower’s vision has always been high-quality, innovative, and fiscally sound housing for families. The firm has completed more than $336 million in development projects, and has orchestrated successful neighborhood transformations.
“Our projects not only add local jobs now and in the future, they also provide safe, high-quality housing as well as contribute to the greater economic benefits of the New Haven community,” said Shenae Draughn, Senior Vice President of The Glendower Group.
